Aim and objectives of our department
To add value to the obstetrics and gynecological field of study, provide continuing training and research opportunities, define policies surrounding women’s health and cooperate with other organizations and authorities to provide support.

Education
In addition to teaching 5th and 6th year medical students and supervising junior resident doctors, we provide short and long term professional training on gynecological endocrinology, OB GYN ultrasound and gynecological surgery. Each year 20-25 junior doctors are enrolled in our residency program, 40-50 fellows are enrolled in our postgraduate training.
Research
Gynecologic endocrinology, urogynecology, gynecological oncology, and perinatology is the main field of research.
Projects
We have done several collaborative research on the following:
– Finding  the causes, improving the diagnosis and treatment of certain obstetric and gynecological diseases”
– Issues surrounding menopause among mongolian women
– Stillbirth
– Guideline on PCOS
– Pregnancy-associated medical conditions, diagnosis and its treatment
– Air pollution effects on fetal health.
Collaborations: All faculty members work as consultant medical doctors at OBGYN department, Mongolia-Japan teaching hospital affiliated to MNUMS. Some faculty members work as consultants at the State Maternity Hospitals.

Research and collaborations
Infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, advanced laparoscopic surgery are the main areas of research.
In 2014, normal parameters of reproductive hormones among Mongolian women were determined and introduced into clinical practice.
In 2016, implementation of the SCORPIO teaching method at MNUMS in conjunction with other medical departments.
In 2018, cooperation with Australian and French doctors on laparoscopic gynaecological surgery training using cadavers for the first time in Mongolia.
In 2021, established a training and simulation center with the support of OB GYN department  affiliated to MNUMS.
