History of the department<\/strong>
The Department of Cardiology was established in 2002. In the years of 2015-2018 the cardiology team was joined together with the Pulmonology and Rheumatology professors\u2019 team, therefore named as Department of Internal Medicine-I. Starting from the 1st<\/sup> of September in 2018, the Department of Cardiology was re-established and working as an independent department ever since. During these times Department of Cardiology was led by the national honored doctor, Prof. Dr. Ulziikhutag Ayulgui, Prof. dr. Zulgerel Dandii, Dr. Burmaa Badrakh, Dr. Narantuya Davaakhuu, and Prof Tsolmon Unurjargal. To be a professional team that performs highly qualified and integrated medical service and to educate evidence-based medical knowledge, skills, and attitudes to the students and medical doctors.

The structure of the department<\/strong>
Our department has a total of 8 lecturers, 62.5 percent of them acquired a PhD  degree in medicine and 50 percent of them are titled consulting or senior level in internal medicine.
Education<\/strong>
Undergraduate programs: teaching 12 types of programs in 5 branch schools of Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Postgraduate programs: internal medicine residency training and  cardiology specialist program, Graduate programs: Master and Doctorate programs.
Research fields<\/strong>
Main fields of research in our department include: Molecular-genetics research of cardiovascular diseases, Early detection and management of chronic heart failure, Early detection and management of Arterial Hypertension
Clinical activities <\/strong>
The main priority of our clinical activity is focused on percutaneous coronary interventional diagnostics and treatments and also performing and delivering high-quality medical services as a united team to the general population.
International relations and partnerships<\/strong>
In 2017, Head of the department Prof. Tsolmon Unurjargal and junior lecturer Bolortuul Byambatsogt were jointly awarded a grant under the theme of \u201cGenetic risk factors of hypertension in Mongolia\u201d by International Society of Hypertension. Also, our department is collaborating in the international registry study of the myocardial infarction by the European Society of Cardiology together with the Mongolian Society of Cardiologists.
