Aim and objective of our department<\/mark><\/strong>
To advance the field of pediatrics by adding academic and clinical value; to provide continuous professional training and research opportunities; to develop and guide policies related to pediatric science; and to collaborate with relevant organizations and authorities to deliver effective support and services.

Education<\/strong>
The department serves as a core academic and clinical training unit committed to developing a highly competent pediatric workforce. We provide comprehensive teaching to 3rd\u20136th year medical students, combined with dedicated clinical supervision and structured mentorship for resident physicians.
Our department leads the national six-year General Pediatrics Program, designed to deliver rigorous training in evidence-based pediatric care, clinical decision-making, preventive medicine, and continuity of child health services. Additionally, 11\u201315 physicians are admitted to the residency track, and up to 10 fellows pursue advanced postgraduate subspecialty training under our faculty guidance.
To further strengthen national and regional pediatric capacity, we offer accredited short- and long-term professional training programs, clinical skills courses, and continuing medical education (CME) initiatives for healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research and Mission<\/mark><\/strong>
Clinical research within the Pediatric Department of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) began with the establishment of the Department of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the Medical Faculty of the Mongolian State University in 1954, marking the foundation for both clinical investigation and the training of pediatric doctors and academic professionals. From the late 1960s, pioneering research in pediatric pulmonology contributed to a measurable reduction in childhood respiratory disease burden and enabled the adoption of modern diagnostic and treatment guidelines supported by emerging medical technologies. Over the decades, the department has expanded its research scope to encompass key pediatric subspecialties, including nephrology, cardiology, neonatology, endocrinology, otolaryngology (ENT), and other clinical domains.
To date, the department has trained 5 PhDs in medical sciences, 39 PhDs in medicine, and 49 Master\u2019s graduates, reflecting its sustained contribution to building Mongolia\u2019s pediatric clinical and academic workforce.
Our mission is to improve child and adolescent health nationwide by driving impactful research, delivering evidence-based clinical excellence, and providing high-quality medical training. We are committed to translating research findings into real-world pediatric care and contributing expert insight to national health policies and healthcare innovations. Through structured academic education, hands-on clinical mentorship, and strong collaborative partnerships at both national and international levels, we aim to enhance pediatric health outcomes while empowering the next generation of skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
