{"id":1806,"date":"2023-09-07T15:37:15","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T07:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medical.mnums.edu.mn\/?page_id=1806"},"modified":"2026-03-03T14:25:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T06:25:16","slug":"ear-nose-throat-department","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/medical.mnums.edu.mn\/?page_id=1806&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Department of Otolaryngology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Brief history<\/mark><\/strong><br>Since the People\u2019s Government\u2019s decision to use modern medicine to protect the population\u2019s health, medical experts in Mongolia have been providing care for ear, nose, and throat disorders, as well as teaching junior doctors and nurses. Between 1921 and 1952, Soviet military specialists provided ear, nose, and throat care to Mongolian people, and the first lecturers of the human medical faculty at Mongolian University were Soviet medical specialists. In 1952, T. Shagdarsuren, an honored doctor, state honor, and academician became Mongolia\u2019s first national otolaryngologist. From 1955, Sh. Tsend, the first lecturer of otolaryngology, worked at the 1st Central State Hospital for six years, conducting research and training activities. Dr. Ts. Dovchin worked in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of MNUMS for more than 30.<br>The Department of Otolaryngology at MNUMS has been led by several highly qualified professionals over the years. G. Tsogtjargal, an otolaryngologist and consultant with a Master of Medical Science degree, worked as a lecturer and senior lecturer at the department from 1991 to 2009. Another distinguished professional, Professor B. Erdenechuluun, Honored Doctor of Mongolia and Doctor of Medical Science, served as a lecturer, senior lecturer and head of the department from 1992 to 2014. From 2014 to 2021, the department was headed by P. Ganchimeg, an otolaryngologist with a Doctor of Medicine degree. P. Munkhbaatar, an otolaryngologist with a Doctor of Medical Science degree, took over as department head from 2021 to 2023. Currently, the department is led by E. Jargalkhuu, an Associate Professor and Doctor of Medicine who has been working as a lecturer, senior lecturer and head of the department since 2023. The department\u2019s assistant workers were G. Tsetsegdari (1986-1990), P. Togoo (1996-1998), and G. Byambaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Our mission<\/mark><\/strong><br>Our department aims to provide comprehensive pre- and post-graduate training to students and physicians in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. We aim to lead the way in head and neck surgery by delivering training programs that cover the latest advancements and techniques in the field. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence in our training programs and fostering a culture of innovation, academic rigor, and clinical proficiency among our trainees, faculty, and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Training<\/mark><\/strong><br>The Department of Otolaryngology implements undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate programs that prepare medical professionals for a range of degrees, including Bachelor&#8217;s, Master&#8217;s, Doctoral, and specialized degrees. Our department guarantees a seamless and continuous clinical cooperation with the University Hospital, providing professional otolaryngology, head and neck, audiology, and facial examination, diagnosis, and treatment services.
